Pam Woolford – Author
I have been married for just over twenty-one years to Richard and we are very happily married. Richard had been a wonderful support to me over the years and he has been my rock to lean on especially when times get rough, and I am finding it difficult to cope. I don’t know what I would do without him here in my life. I’m in my mid-fifties and I have been trained to sing.As well as this, I am a talented poet and writer. As well we have a beautiful silkie dog called Toby who is about fourteen months old and is very clever for his age.
I started writing poetry in January 2010 and have to date written almost one hundred poems. I originally started my writing on Hubpages.com and wrote about 50 stories with a few poems as well. From the reviews I have received over the last twelve months, I was encouraged to go one step further and I joined a Poetry Website. I have been writing here since June and had a lot of success including receiving several Awards. I will be showing one of these on the Award’s Page.
I would like to point out that I started to write also for therapeutic reasons as I suffer from very rare disease which is called ‘Multiple Systems Atrophy’, for which there is no cure. I found my writing has saved me from myself because I have been severely depressed because this is not a nice disease. It has very debilitating symptoms which means that I have to go out in a wheelchair because I can only walk a little way.
I needed something to fill in the days for me and my writing has done that. I wanted to say as well when I was diagnosed, at first that I just wanted to go to bed and just let the world go by. Then I thought I’m not going to let this beat me and take over, so if there is anyone going through a tough time with an illness, don’t give up on yourself. Please let what I have done with my life be an inspiration to you .
Give it a go you might just surprise yourself with the results.
